Sweetest Chefs of the South 2016

I had the great pleasure of being asked to compete in the Sweetest Chefs of the South this past weekend in Ridgeland, Mississippi.  To answer your question no I did win, but I did get to take my lovely assistant Ella to her first work event!  The setting was beautiful.  It took place at The Lake House and we served about 400 hungry people.  I made lavender and goat cheese panna cotta with local honey.  I must say I thought mine was pretty amazing, but it may have been a little out there for this crowd.  My dear friend Brian arranged my lovely flower display and Ella helped me assemble and place 300 wooden spoons in every mason jar.
All in all winner or looser the evening was a success!  I was able to showcase a Lola dessert that is loved by many and I got to spend a little QT with my sweet daughter.

Simple Southern Fare

We started a supper club about 10 months ago and I am just getting around to sharing on the Lola blog!  Where to start.. I guess the beginning!

The lola supper club is the brain child of Keith and me (Nealy) this is our outlet to be super creative and serve our food family style and in a fun, party like setting.  We have a theme that goes with every dinner and it remains a secret until the night of the event.  We have done anything from low country food to soul food.  For new years we did a roaring twenties theme and everyone came dressed up and the food was twenties theme inspired.  There is not a detail missed for our supper club meals.  We typically serve family style and do anywhere from 30-60 people.  We have three signature cocktails for the evening a welcome drink to start.* see notes

Street Fare Derby Time!

Hello all!
This Saturday in New Orleans will be the first year of the highly anticipated Street Fare Derby!! Of course Lola deux will be there selling food, plus 14 other food trucks and pop-up restaurants. We are so excited to be apart of the event! The Street Fare Derby hopes to raise awareness to the community about the importance of food trucks and people moving forward and thinking outside of the box. We are so proud to be a part of this movement in our awesome city of New Orleans.

We have been bringing Lola deux to different events on the NorthShore these past few months. You can find us at the local Covington farmers market, festivals, music events & we hope soon the Abita brewing company just outside of Abita city limits.

I am curious about your city and where you can find food trucks there? I would love for you to share any ideas or locations with us!

If you find yourself in New Orleans this Saturday had over to the race track and pick up your $15 ticket and enjoy the culture and street food from our awesome city!!
